LL.M. in Energy and Natural Resources

The online LL.M in Energy and Natural Resources program allows lawyers practicing energy law to further their specialization or is for lawyers that want to transition into an energy law practice. This 24-credit hour program exposes students to legal education focused on the entire energy lifecycle – including courses on oil and gas contracts, upstream, midstream, downstream and water law.

Focus on Energy

Whether you are currently practicing energy law and want to expand your knowledge, or you expect to have energy work in the future, the online LL.M. will cover all aspects of energy law. From contract law specific to working in energy and natural resources to courses in upstream, midstream and downstream law, this program will provide the legal background to handle complex deals and negotiations.

Experienced Energy Law Faculty

Students in the program are taught by OU Law faculty and adjunct faculty carefully selected for their expertise in Energy and Natural Resources law. This includes professors on the OU Faculty as well as attorneys practicing law for energy firms and oil and gas corporations.

Unique Student Experience

Students are organized into cohorts with whom they will take all of their classes throughout the program. This allows students to collaborate and share their points of view, providing a richer experience for all. Additionally, OU Law staff work closely with each student to promote a successful learning environment.

Access to Sooner Energy Network

The University of Oklahoma has been providing energy education for over 100 years. OU Law has strong expertise in energy and can also rely on top energy programs from the Price College of Business and the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy. Each college has a strong graduate network within energy companies that alumni can access.

Convenient Format

This program can be completed online in 15 months. Students can complete assignments at a time and place of their choosing. Students are encouraged to interact with faculty and network with classmates via interactive online assignments and projects – so taking classes online will prove to be as engaging as taking them in a classroom.
